Well, there was no gardening, cooking, or anything else relevant to this blog that happened this weekend.
But, since you insist, I will tell you about it.
My mom, my sister who lives in Moorhead, and I drove to the cities on Friday night. There, at a beautiful hotel (thanks, mom!), we met my other sister and my sister-in-law for a wild weekend of women.
Friday night we just had a few drinks and some cheese and crackers in our room. Saturday, we were up fairly early for a wonderful (complimentary) breakfast at the hotel, and then off to Ikea for some shopping and lunch.
We got back to the hotel about 1:00 and got ready for the main reason for the weekend—a show called “For Women Only” that was playing at a theater on Hennepin. A couple of female comics who did this sort of variety show. . . very funny, very outrageous at times, but completely enjoyable (especially after the drunk woman in the front row decided to pipe down a bit).
From there we went back to the hotel for a drink in the bar because it was still too early for dinner and to meet up with my niece (who lives in the cities and was joining us for the night). So, then on to dinner at the Normandy Kitchen (I think I got that right), which is right across the street from the hotel where we were staying.
Wow, was that good. Quite a few of us had the Roasted Beet Salad, which was awesome, and I think everyone’s entrées were excellent as well. A few of us shared curry-coconut shrimp kebabs, and that one was fabulous. I had a few tastes of other things as well, and really, there was nothing that we got that wasn’t very, very good. And the prices were surprisingly reasonable.
Then back to the hotel for more wine and more cheese, and lots (and lots) of laughter. We had to leave right after breakfast Sunday morning because people had other commitments on Sunday, but it really was a great weekend—I just love my family! I’m hoping we can make this a yearly tradition.
