Off on vacation

We are off on vacation (again?) for the next week and a half–I can’t wait! I tell you what, I feel like I’m hardly ever gone from work, but it also seems like I’m always posting blogs about “I’m going to be gone for the next week.” :)

The yard looks amazing, if I do say so myself–it could use some weeding and some really serious trimming and deadheading, but honestly I like it sort of wild and out-of-control looking, full of flowers all falling all over each other and vying for attention. ;)

Lilies, maltese cross, and yarrow in the “hot spot” garden

I’ve been trying to spend a little bit of time outside, but as always I don’t do it as often as I’d like.  We were at the lake this past weekend and got home just in time for a short tour of the yard (we like to do that after we’ve been away, or even just at the end of the work day–get a glass of wine and just go around and check everything out, see if there’s anything new) and a load or two of laundry.

Back yard

Tomorrow after work we’re leaving for Duluth, where we’re participating in a regional handbell festival.  Then we’ll come back from Duluth on the 2nd to do some more laundry, repack, turn around, and head for the lake on the 3rd.  And we won’t be back until Sunday night, the 8th.  I’m really looking forward to it, but it will be a whirlwind, I’m sure.  Especially after the chaotic fun of the four-day bell festival, I think the lake will be particularly enjoyable. . . although, with 15 or 20 of my close family there, I wouldn’t exactly call it “restful.”  Rejuvenating, perhaps, and certainly lots of fun.  But maybe not restful. :)

So, I will not be posting now for a couple of weeks–hope you all can handle life without me (haha).  Have a wonderful Independence Day and if you’re taking any vacation, travel safely! :)
