On hold

We had a wonderful weekend at the lake with family–it was hot and sunny and not too windy (a rarity at our place, it seems), so we did plenty of boating and swimming and just reading in the shade.  It was beautiful and relaxing.

Some of the members of my wonderful family!

Now, I’m going to be “on hold” for  a while.  I’m having hernia surgery tomorrow and they’ve recommended I take at least two weeks off work (it’s a pretty big hernia).

I went through basically the same thing last summer, so I know I won’t be feeling like doing anything for a week or more–and I keep thinking about all the canning, gardening, and house cleaning I’d love to get done in the near future.

I’ve got fresh green beans that I wanted to pickle, more veggies coming every week from the CSA, and only so many meals we can eat.

But I know I need to relax and just use the time for recuperation, because I really don’t want to be doing this again in another year. :)

So I’ll relax, and watch tv, and try to heal, and think about all the pickles I could be making if I could lift the darn canner.

And if my posts are sporadic for the next few weeks, my apologies–but I’ll try to keep up with it as much as I can. . . who knows, maybe it will be the perfect activity for my recuperation period.

Happy Monday, and please send lots of positive thoughts and vibes my way! :)

    Positive thoughts and prayers are on their way!
    I just sent you a story about a pickle jar;
    the philosophy at the end is my message to you
    for the next few days:
    - Happy moments, praise God.
    - Difficult moments, seek God.
    - Quiet moments, worship God.
    - Painful moments, trust God.
    - Every moment, thank God.
    Get well soon!
