Garden explosion

That’s probably an exaggeration. :)   But I always feel like the gardens just explode while we’re gone over the 4th of July weekend.  We come back after being gone only 4 or 5 days and it seems like everything has grown at least a foot.

The hollyhocks are blooming, the lilies are starting, and the containers of annuals are really taking off.

The “hot spot” garden is beautiful right now–it always looks so good when the Lysimachia (the ground-cover with the bright yellow flowers) and the yellow lilies are blooming. Along with the lady’s mantle and yarrow, which have been blooming for at least a week already.

We got back to town yesterday mid-afternoon or so and Trevor mowed the lawn.  Everything looked so nice after he was done! (And, of course, he always wants me to wait to take pictures until the grass is done.) ;)

Ready for another week at work–I’ll probably be making a list of all the garden-related things I want to get done this coming weekend, which will be our first weekend at home in about a month.

I’m sure we will find plenty of things to keep us busy! ;)

Some time ago you spoke of tomato bags that you plant tomatoes in. Where do you get them?

I got mine online–I think through Gurneys. They are fairly widely available, I think–the original name-brand is “Wall-o-water” but they may be called other things as well. They’re not really bags, so much as tubes, sort of. . . they have baffles that you fill with water and they stand up around the tomato plant sort of like little teepees.

I just Googled “wall o water” and lots of sites popped up. So I don’t think you’ll have any trouble finding some online.

      Thanks for asking! :)
