A few weeks ago I had an idea. It was an idea that, I thought, would save a significant amount of time and effort with Christmas decorating.
I thought we could put our Christmas village up on top of the cupboards in the kitchen, instead of on the entertainment center in the living room.
Part of the reason for doing this was to be able to actually get a little Christmas decorating done (one of the most time-consuming parts) before Thanksgiving. Because we were having company for Thanksgiving, so I didn’t want to have the house all Christmas-ified at that point.
So, on the weekend before Thanksgiving, we set about putting up the village in the kitchen.
It probably goes without saying that I had to use a ladder. In fact, Trevor was highly amused by the fact that I could actually stand on top of the counter and my head still barely touched the ceiling.
So I climbed up the ladder. And I climbed down the ladder. And up. And down. I think you know what I’m getting at here. I climbed up and down that ladder approximately 24,000 times that day. The next day I had sore muscles in places that I had no idea I had muscles.
Why I thought that putting the village up on top of the kitchen cupboards would be easier, I’m not really sure. The logic and reasoning that led me to that decision now seems fuzzy.
But I love the way it looks. Maybe in April or so I could replace the “snow” with “grass” and just leave it up all year.
