An unusual gift

I got a beautiful and most unusual gift from a friend this Christmas. We’ve been friends since first grade, so she knows me pretty well. :)

I have never seen anything like this before–it’s an olive tray.

The photo quality isn’t great, and I should have moved it out of my china hutch, because it’s somewhat difficult to distinguish the olive tray from the shelf it’s sitting on.

But it’s this beautiful wood and it even has a little spear-like device (sitting in the tray on the left) for the actual olive retrieval.

I love things like this–it’s useful, unusual,¬†and beautiful and has been quite a conversation piece already.

Now I need to go out and get some fancy olives! :)

You mean you don’t grow your own olives?

I have always wondered what those things were for. Kabob-holders didn’t seem *quite* right.
